Penguin is a great Hub from which to tour NW Tasmania

There is really nothing comparable to Penguin in Tasmania. It is a true village with a village atmosphere. You have two beautiful beaches – Penguin beach and Johnson’s beach – out front and bordered by the Penguin Esplanade offering scenic views. Close by is Preservation Drive Beach and the Penguin SurfClub. All beaches are great for swimming. Just behind Penguin are the spectacular Dial Ranges and Penguin Mountain and this offers an abundance of walking trails and mountain bike trails. The bigger city of Burnie and town of Ulverstone are each just a 15 minute drive away where you can access a wide range of cafes, restaurants and the major supermarkets. Devonport is a half hour away and Cradle Mountain less than 2 hours drive away. The sensational coastal drive from Penguin to Stanley is a must with stops along the way at Table Cape, Boat Harbour and Sisters Beach.

If you want to go further than Stanley you can continue on to Arthur River, visit the Edge of the World and come back to Penguin via the Tarkine Drive.

It is all at your fingertips from beautiful Penguin.
